Birth Control Options:
You have many options to choose from.
- Most women choose hormonal contraception (birth control pills, the patch, the vaginal ring) because it regulates their cycle and decreases bleeding.
- The Depo-Provera shot is also available. It is given every three months by injection.
When a woman has completed her family she can choose:
- An IUD (intrauterine device) that protects for either 5 or 10 years depending on the type. We place the IUD in a follow up visit. A normal annual exam needs to be completed first.
- A permanent method of contraception such as the tubal ligation or the newest method of tubal occlusion by Essure.
Most of these methods are covered by insurances.
